I have been joined for the day by Charlie and Matt who are regular faces on this blog and wanted a day of preparation for their forthcoming alpine trip. They have each shared lots of adventures with me in the past and so I knew the skills they needed to focus on to top up existing ones prior to heading out to the Alps. Conditions in the mountains were wet and wild so we headed to the climbing wall and looked at taking alpine coils, transitions from glacial terrain to snow aprons, simple crevasse rescue skills and then some more complex crevasse rescue techniques involving hoists as well as ascending a rope. The boys are heading home with heads full of prussiks and pulleys now and I hope their trip goes well.
