Dream of White Horses, Gogarth
I was joined today by regular client and friend Paul for a day of guided rock climbing. Paul has had his eye on A Dream of White Horses at Gogarth for many years now and we decided that today was the day to get on it. It is graded at HVS 5a, 5a, 5a, 4c and is a fairly serious route for the second as well as the leader as each pitch is a traverse across Wen Zawn. It starts at the bottom right and finishes at the top left of the zawn and has some big swing potential! Paul has done a lot of climbing with me at this grade and harder and so I decided he would be fine. We abseiled in to the accompaniment of the lighthouse foghorn mid morning. We had delayed our start to allow the sun to reach the crag and it arrived as we did at the base of the route. We were the only team on the route all morning, the rock was dry and a stiff breeze meant we were not over heating! Paul climbed the route in great style and we topped out without any dramas and big smiles all round! A fantastic day.
